World's Largest Surf Lesson in aid of the Niall Mellon Township Trust

On Saturday August 23rd, a bid was made to hold the world’s largest ever surf lesson on Tullan Strand, Bundoran, Co. Donegal. 243 People took part and all the details are currently being verified by Guinness World Record's to officially make it a World Record.

Carol and Seamus Fallon would like to extend their utmost gratitude to everybody who helped to make the day such a success, all the participants, organisers, bands, sponsors, volunteers and everybody who came out to watch, there is a clip of the record attempt now on the Gallery Page, the money is still coming in and it will all be guaranteed to change the lives of many families in South Africa.

The lesson was orchestrated by local surf schools, Donegal Adventure Centre, Turf n Surf, Bundoran Surf Company and Surf World surf shop.

The Niall Mellon Township Trust was established in 2002, and the aim of the trust is to provide homes for those living in dire conditions in South Africa. Each year, hundreds of Irish volunteers go to South Africa and participate in a ‘building blitz’. In 2008, Carol and Seamus Fallon from Bundoran, Co. Donegal will travel to South Africa as part of this project. Monies raised by the Tullan for the Township event will help them raise the minimum 5,000 euro each they are required to raise. This will be Seamus’s third year volunteering, and Carol’s second. They are gladly supported in their efforts by Bundoran, and Donegal, and we encourage you to join in this support.
