Registration
opens for surf lesson
All participants are asked to get a sponsorship
in advance of the surf lesson and raise as much support as they can for
the Niall Mellon Township Trust. People can also register on the day, and
will be asked to donate at least a minimum of 30 euro per surfer towards
the Trust.
12.00pm Live Music
There will be live music at the beach from 12.00pm, featuring The
Blizzards,
Red Kid, Onya, The
Dead Flags, Neon Knights, Worldwide
Freeride, Louise Killeen
Band, Sk/d, Reject
Dolls and Federal Aviation
2.00pm Pony Rides
Donegal Equestrian Holidays will be offering pony rides on
Tullan Strand. All riders will be asked to register, and donate to the
Niall Mellon
Township
Trust.
5.30pm Surf Lesson
Instructors will begin Ireland’s largest
surf lesson. All surfers must register in advance, and will be given
an armband
with
their instructor and groupEveryone will be given a starter-lesson on the
beach, and then on into the water for the surfing. The lesson will last
approx one hour.
The surf lesson has been registered with the Guinness Book of Records
as an attempt to set the world record for the largest surf lesson. Everyone
is welcome to join in, including children from 8yrs + . This event is
not suitable for children younger than 8 years old.
The surf lesson will be conducted by instructors from Donegal
Adventure Centre, Bundoran Surf Company, Turf
'N Surf Surf School, and other visiting
Surf instructors. There will be lifeguards on duty and the Bundoran Lifeboat
will also be assisting the surf.
A limited number of wetsuits will be made available by the surf schools,
but anyone with their own are encouraged to bring along. Those not wearing
wetsuits are encouraged to wear rash vests or t-shirts with togs to avoid
board-burn.
9.00pm After Party
All participants are invited
back to the Chasin’ Bull for
an ‘On the township’ cocktail and live music by Inuendo with
support from Surfchixxx. A lively night is expected. There will be video
footage of the surf lesson
on the big screens, and collections for the Township Trust.
